Over the past year I have collected quite a few comics and kids magazines from Thailand. While the majority of my collection is made up of the contemporary pulp horror comics, I have also started to expand the collection into older and rarer books. The subject matter can range from fantasy epics to one page cartoon gags. There are also quite a few comics that touch on diffrent aspect of Buddhism. Some like the one pictured above even get into the mythological side of things. There is quite a wide spectrum of illustrated storytelling from Thailand that has never been seen abroad.

Joel will have some copies of the original limited edition VHS for sale there too…yep its that vintage…for real, and a new DVD version if you can’t find your working VCR and want to support the arts.

Also amazing outsider artist James Bruce King will have work on display. Don’t miss out!!!!

Back in December I submitted a proposal to an open call for entries organized by apexart in NYC. Typing up my wildest art dream I proposed a show that would bring artists from around the world together to work and conceive a show in factory setting near Samut Sakhon, Thailand.
Well a few weeks ago I found out my proposal had been chosen to become an actual show. Amazing news, till the reality dawns upon me….I have to make this crazy dream a reality and accomplish this task in about a months time.
So for the past few weeks I’ve been visiting spaces, sourcing materials, brainstorming with local contacts and chasing down artists via email and skype. With less then two weeks till the artist arrive it appears everything is going to happen as planned. Of course the next few weeks are going to be increasingly hectic, but the over all plan is in motion.
So I invite you to check out the show blog to see what is going on. All information about the exhibition will be posted here. We have some exciting things planned!

Right now in Bangkok anything “Green” or “Eco-themed” is moving fast. Working with that in mind I kicked out a few designs for the Oddyssee.
There is a one color design featuring a crying Morrissey among other things. Had to go for the Smiths reference with the catch phrase “How Soon is Now.” It sounds kinda eco?

Today just in time for the Mob-F opening gala we finished the “Reduce Global Warming” tee. This design is two color and features, bicycles, hearts & rainbows, a fat fluffy cat, and the earth. How can it not be a hit. As of now both designs are strictly for the ladies. So men pony up some cash and let your lady show she loves the Earth in style.

Last week I was contacted by the amazing DJ Dougg Pound to see if I could kick out a CD design for him before he goes on tour with Tim & Eric-of adult swim fame. So a few emails and .jpeg attachments back and fourth and the above is what we came up with. Dougg wanted something minimal and hand drawn so I busted out the microns and went to work. If you get a chance to catch the Tim & Eric tour do so, and if you can’t make it…or the show is sold out (Chicago’s is) you can always hit up Dougg to order a copy of the CD. And if nothing else check out his myspace to hear the title track…its POUNDING!

I’m very excited to be djing the evening of this excellent art show at Reversible Eye! with Bobby Conn and Jonathan Johnson
From the desk of Bobby Conn:
Please join me & Julie in welcoming our friend and master jeweler Jonathan Johnson to Chicago for his first exhibition in USA. He is a remarkable artist we’ve met while touring Germany; he made pendant necklaces for our entire band based on his interpretation of our music, and made the unicorn pendant you see attached for Julie. He has an (obviously) eclectic and far ranging taste in music and is making a series of pieces for musicians he appreciates. He also designs jewelry for his own clients as well as for the German fashion house Herr Von Eden. Even if you are not interested in jewelry, please come check out this show; they are actually small beautiful wearable sculptures, impeccably made and with a sly sense of humor. I hope to see you there!
Best,
Bobby Conn
